American snowboarder Chloe Kim announced Friday that she'll be taking a break from social media.
Kim, 25, entered the 2026 Olympics with two gold medals in the halfpipe event. Although she had to settle for silver in Milan, she made her country proud. Not only did she compete through a serious shoulder injury, she showed tremendous class by congratulating South Korea’s Choi Gaon on winning gold.
“Such an honor to be part of this sport. I had so much fun last night and I hope you all enjoyed watching the progression of Women’s Halfpipe snowboarding! A month ago, I wasn’t even sure if I’d be able to compete. I was in the darkest space mentally and felt so much fear coming back. To land my run in my first final of the season was the most rewarding and validating thing I’ve ever experienced,” Kim said after competing in the halfpipe final.
"Congratulations to Mitsuki Ono, I am so in awe of you and your style. I’ve admired you since our lead up into the Beijing games. And a massive congratulations to Choi Gaon. Your strength and mental fortitude is beyond inspirational. I’m excited to watch you continue to shine like I always knew you would."

Unfortunately, the past few days for Kim haven't been great. She revealed that fans have been sending her disturbing images and videos on Instagram.
As a result, Kim has been left with no choice but to protect her privacy during this time.
"Hello hello! Happy Friday! I unfortunately had to turn off my DMs due to people taking things too far. I've seen too many fake and very disturbing images/videos and I need to protect myself," Kim wrote on her Instagram Story.
"Hopefully with some time we'll be back! I really do enjoy connecting with you all! Much love."

Chloe Kim clears the air on engagement rumor.
One of the fake photos going around on social media showed Kim getting engaged to her boyfriend, Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett. She confirmed this week that it was an AI-generated photo designed to trick the public.
"Don't fall for it, guys," Kim said on Jimmy Kimmel's show.
It's unclear what other photos were sent to Kim, but we're hoping this awful trend comes to an end immediately.
Kim should receive nothing but support from her fans, especially after capturing yet another Olympic medal.
