Coming off one of their worst seasons in over a decade, where they finished 6–11, the Kansas City Chiefs have been active this offseason in an effort to retool and revive their dynasty. While they have made solid additions so far, there are still some glaring weaknesses on the roster ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Kansas City’s top needs entering the draft include edge rusher, cornerback, and wide receiver. With two first-round picks at their disposal, the Chiefs have a strong opportunity to add premium talent at multiple positions, though some analysts have even suggested the team could explore trading up to secure an elite pass rusher.

The Chiefs are rarely in a position to draft near the top, but hitting on their early picks could help ensure sustained success for years to come. As part of their pre-draft evaluations, Kansas City is hosting Rueben Bain Jr. for a Top 30 visit on Wednesday, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Bain spent all three of his collegiate seasons with the Miami Hurricanes and impressed each year, earning three All-ACC selections. He made an immediate impact as a freshman, recording 7.5 sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss, which earned him Defensive Rookie of the Year honors.

His sophomore season was shortened to nine games due to injury, during which he recorded 3.5 sacks. However, Bain surged up draft boards following a dominant 2025 campaign, finishing with 9.5 sacks, 15.5 tackles for loss, and one interception. He earned first-team All-ACC honors and was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year.

Across his three seasons at Miami, Bain totaled 20.5 sacks, 33.5 tackles for loss, and 121 tackles. He is widely projected as a potential top-10 pick and has also visited teams picking near the top of the draft, including the Tennessee Titans and the Miami Dolphins.

Bain profiles as a compact and powerful edge defender who is both disruptive and versatile. He wins with strength and violent hands, consistently making plays in the backfield, including chasing down ball carriers from the backside. His ability to line up in multiple roles makes him an appealing fit for Kansas City’s defensive needs.

There are some concerns about Bain’s arm length, which measured 30 7/8 inches at the NFL Scouting Combine. However, he has shown the ability to overcome that limitation, as evidenced by his production, including five sacks and eight tackles for loss in Miami’s four College Football Playoff games.
