Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs are closing in on Week 1 of the 2026 NFL regular season. Andy Reid returns for his 14th season as Kansas City’s head coach, looking to avenge the 6-11 record from last year, the worst under his tenure.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes will look to right the ship as he is cleared to start the season after suffering a disastrous torn ACL last year.
Joining the established stars on the roster are newcomers such as running back and 2026 Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker and the No. 6 overall pick in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, Mansoor Delane.
Another notable name that joined the Chiefs this offseason is the legendary former LSU Tigers defensive back Tyrann Mathieu.

On his podcast, “In the Bayou With Tyrann Mathieu,” Mathieu gave a soliloquy on Kelce’s behavior during training camp. The Honey Badger spoke on how he thought, due to Kelce’s age and offseason marriage to singer Taylor Swift, that he would potentially slow down.
Mathieu continued, saying how impressed he was by Travis and how hard he practices, and stated that Kelce is in tremendous shape.
“Travis too bro, I’m expecting Trav to be, this (explicit) just got married,” Mathieu said in the clip. “I’m expecting him to just not be here no more. Like he’s here, but he ain’t here. But he was locked in bro. Every day. And that is one of the things I really respected about Kelce man. That dude never took days off. Every time I went to that practice field, I expect him to be there. And that says a lot about him. He is 35, 36, he looks good. Whatever that Travis was that we saw last year, he doesn’t look anything like that guy.”
Kansas City will open the 2026 NFL regular season hosting the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday, Sept. 14, at 8:15 p.m. ET, with coverage on ESPN’s Monday Night Football.
