The Kansas City Chiefs’ offense will again run through Patrick Mahomes, with Travis Kelce expected to remain one of his most trusted targets. The legendary duo has led the Chiefs to three Super Bowls, and Mahomes and Kelce continue to work together to help the franchise win another Lombardi trophy.
Wednesday marked the Chiefs’ 13th full-team practice of camp, bringing them closer to their first preseason test. Kansas City has spent the past two weeks building its offense, getting new pieces comfortable and giving Mahomes more opportunities to develop timing with his receivers and tight ends as he recovers from his ACL and LCL injuries.

The Chiefs are also preparing for their first preseason game, with the Los Angeles Rams visiting Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday. Kansas City will then face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks before turning its attention fully to the regular season.

Kelce offered an encouraging assessment of the quarterback’s preparation during his press conference on Wednesday.
“He’s playing his tail off right now, and he’s leading us,” Kelce said. He added that Mahomes has done an “unbelievable job” preparing himself while also working with his receivers and making sure everyone meets the standards expected of the offense.
Mahomes’ leadership will be particularly important for a team looking to rebound after last season’s 6-11 finish.
The first preseason game will give Kansas City its first chance to take that preparation into a live-game setting. The Chiefs host the Rams at 4 p.m. ET Saturday, with the focus shifting from training-camp progress to game-day execution.
