Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are looking to bounce back after suffering their first loss of the season. Kansas City fell 20-3 to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, with its offense struggling throughout the game. Mahomes finished with 165 passing yards, no touchdowns and one interception as the Chiefs dropped to 5-1.
The defeat gave the Chiefs plenty to address before their next outing, particularly after an offense that had been productive during their unbeaten start managed only a field goal. Mahomes and his teammates will return to the field on Sunday for a divisional game, with Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos set to host the Chiefs in Week 8.

Away from the field, however, Mahomes has also continued his work supporting high school football communities. The two-time NFL MVP has been involved in an initiative designed to help schools improve their athletic facilities, drawing on his own experiences growing up around the game and seeing how much Friday night football means to local communities.
On Thursday, Mahomes shared a video on his Instagram Stories in which he encouraged people to support the initiative.
“Whether it’s making a big play or providing ways for others to shine, I pride myself in always finding an opening,” Mahomes said. “Know what else is open? Voting for division champion schools for T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights. It’s their chance at a million dollar field upgrade. Head over to FridayNight5GLights.com now to cast your vote.”
The campaign, T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights, is entering its final voting round. Four schools have been named division champions, with each securing $250,000 in funding, a Gronk Fitness gym upgrade and a $5,000 student leadership award. They will now compete for the grand prize, a $1 million football-field upgrade.
Voting runs from Oct. 29 through Nov. 8, with the overall winner scheduled to be announced on Nov. 12. The four finalists are Buffalo Gap High School in Virginia, Menasha High School in Wisconsin, Covington High School in Louisiana and Lakeside High School in Washington.
Mahomes has served as an ambassador for the initiative, which aims to help high schools improve their facilities and bring communities together through football.
