The Kansas City Chiefs improved to 4-0 with a 30-27 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, but the win came with another concerning injury to their wide receiver room.
Tyquan Thornton was carted off after catching a 55-yard pass late in the fourth quarter, with his left ankle appearing badly compromised on the play.
Thornton had produced a career-type performance before leaving, finishing with five receptions for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Patrick Mahomes completed 15 of 30 passes for 225 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions as Kansas City erased Las Vegas’ unbeaten start.

Mahomes addressed Thornton’s injury with BS sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson after the game:
“First off I am praying for him… Hopefully he comes back healthy.”
The Chiefs had already lost Rashee Rice earlier in the game. Rice suffered a right hamstring injury after pulling up following a five-yard reception and was eventually ruled doubtful to return.
Kansas City entered the game with other injury concerns, too. Starting tackle Josh Simmons was inactive because of a back injury, while Mahomes, Chris Jones and L’Jarius Sneed had all been managing injuries during the week.
The situation at receiver is now particularly concerning. With Rice and Thornton unavailable, Kansas City was left with only Xavier Worthy, who was also limping at some point during the game, Nikko Remigio, rookie Cyrus Allen and Jalen Royals at wide receiver. Jack Bech is also already on injured reserve with a broken forearm.
The Raiders got 365 passing yards from Kirk Cousins, who went 31-of-52 with two touchdowns and one interception, but Kansas City held on to hand Las Vegas its first loss of the season.
