Head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes have the Kansas City Chiefs sitting at 4-0, but the group catching passes for them keeps getting thinner. Rashee Rice is out against the Los Angeles Chargers with a hamstring injury, Tyquan Thornton landed on injured reserve after dislocating his ankle, and Xavier Worthy has caught 14 passes for 133 yards.
That is a big reason Tyreek Hill is back in the conversation. The 32-year-old is still rehabbing after dislocating his knee and tearing multiple ligaments, his ACL among them, with the Miami Dolphins in 2025, and a November return is the reported target. Kansas City did contact his agent once
Thornton and Rice were hurt in the win over the Las Vegas Raiders, but The Athletic’s Jonathan Jones does not see a deal coming quickly. “As it stands now, I don’t get the sense the Chiefs are in a rush to sign Tyreek Hill,” Jones wrote.

The receiver’s recovery, the salary he is expected to command above the minimum and open questions about possible NFL discipline complicate matters, plus a Miami jury’s finding that he is liable for battery.
In the meantime, younger options like Jalen Royals and Cyrus Allen can get more opportunities, and the Chiefs can explore trades ahead of the Nov. 10 deadline.
Russell Wilson believes a move is coming, predicting on CBS that Kansas City will make a blockbuster trade.
“I’m making a prediction right now,” Wilson said. “The Kansas City Chiefs make a big trade for a big time receiver that can get down the field.”
“They got [Xavier Worthy], but I’m talking about a big-time playmaker, a big-time receiver, a vet receiver that knows how to make plays down the field. That’s the one thing I think this team is missing,” he added.
George Pickens would be the biggest swing, with 27 catches for 355 yards on the Dallas Cowboys’ $27.3 million franchise tag, but the Cowboys have said repeatedly that trading him is not in the plans.
Jerry Jeudy appears more realistic, with the Cleveland Browns reportedly asking for a third- or fourth-round pick. The veteran has eight catches but has dropped down Cleveland’s depth chart behind younger receivers.
Brian Thomas Jr. could be a buy-low play after a 2024 rookie season with 1,282 receiving yards, since the Jacksonville Jaguars receiver now sits behind Parker Washington and Jakobi Meyers. Even so, the Jaguars have indicated no interest in trading him.
