After a down year in 2025, the Kansas City Chiefs have turned things back around during the 2026 NFL season. The team is 4-0 heading into Week 6 with their bye now behind them.
The biggest storyline for the Kansas City squad is of course the return of superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The three-time Super Bowl winner went down in early December of last season with a torn ACL but is apparently fully healthy just 10 months later.
This is not to say that the QB has been flawless. During the Chiefs’ Week 4 contest at the Las Vegas Raiders, Mahomes was seen yelling at his offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy after the team failed to score a touchdown on a goal-to-go possession.
On Thursday, Bieniemy was asked about the moment by Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports. He said that he had no problem with Mahomes’ comments and that he welcomes it rather than have the players spread their frustration elsewhere.
This interaction is somewhat admirable from Bieniemy’s end, as a lot of times players yelling at coaches on the sideline does not have a good connotation. Kansas City ended up beating Las Vegas, 30-27.
Mahomes is off to a fantastic start overall, completing 64.1% of his passes through four games for 1,037 yards on 8.1 yards per attempt. He has thrown nine touchdowns to only two interceptions.
The now 10th-year man out of Texas Tech has also carried the ball 12 times for 41 yards and a touchdown. He has predictably lessened his reliability on the run following a major knee injury at age 30.

The Chiefs are one of three undefeated teams remaining in the NFL. The Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers are 5-0. If recent history is any indicator, all these streaks will not last much longer.
That said, the Chiefs will next host another divisional game versus the lowly Los Angeles Chargers. That game will kickoff at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday, with the Chiefs hoping to stay undefeated while the Chargers look for their first win of the season.
