The Kansas City Chiefs missed the playoffs this past season for the first time in 11 years, and the offense was a major reason why.

While the entire offense must be held accountable for its shortcomings, the running back corps was especially ineffective. The Chiefs ranked 25th in the league in rushing yards (1,812), while their 15 rushing TDs tied for 18th.

Because of the ineffectiveness of the running back unit, rumors swirl about possible offseason acquisitions the Chiefs might make to give Andy Reid more options on offense.

Chiefs Linked to RB Travis Etienne in 2026 Free Agency

NBC Sports' Matthew Berry published a piece about offseason rumors and various things he heard at last week's NFL Combine in Indianapolis. Among the multiple names in the article, Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. was mentioned as a possible target for the four-time Super Bowl champs.

"Among the places I heard for Travis Etienne to land include New Orleans and Kansas City," Berry wrote.

Etienne's track record with the Jaguars makes it clear why he is viewed as an option for the Chiefs. The 27-year-old Clemson product has 3,798 career yards and 25 touchdowns, with seven of them this past season.
