DiJonai Carrington and the Chicago Sky are currently on break amid the WNBA’s 17-day hiatus for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin, Germany.
The Sky’s last game was Aug. 29. They suffered an 85-66 road loss to the New York Liberty, marking their third straight defeat. Carrington missed that game due to a foot injury.
Chicago entered the break with a 15-25 record. They are 10th in the standings with four games remaining in the regular season. The Sky have already been eliminated from playoff contention, marking their third straight campaign without postseason basketball.
On Wednesday, Carrington took to social media to share a personal update outside of the WNBA. The 28-year-old shared a video of herself at a Beauty on the Block event. Sky teammate Natasha Cloud was with her.
“So much fun supporting Black businesses at Beauty on the Block,” Carrington captioned her post.
Beauty on the Block is a multi-city live shopping and cultural experience organized by The Black Beauty Club. Carrington joined the festivities and used the opportunity to promote her brand partnership with digital wallet Cash App.
Carrington’s foot issue does not seem to be serious. She could be available for Chicago’s first game after the World Cup break. The Sky will return to action on Sept. 17 to host the Washington Mystics at Wintrust Arena.
Carrington is currently in her first season with the Sky after signing a one-year, $650,000 contract with the team in free agency. The 5-foot-11 guard-forward, who missed the first part of the season due to injury, is currently averaging 8.8 points and 3.1 rebounds in 11 appearances.
