DiJonai Carrington watched on as Natasha Cloud and the Chicago Sky secured a third straight win on Friday, jumping to 15-22 on the 2026 WNBA season after a 73-70 win over Kayla Thornton and the Golden State Valkyries. Now, still fighting for a spot in the WNBA playoffs, the Sky will turn their attention to Sunday’s matchup, hosting Sophie Cunningham and the Indiana Fever.
After missing most of the regular season recovering from a left foot sprain and two surgeries, Carrington made her Sky debut on July 30, playing nine total games in 2026. And the former Baylor guard has taken advantage of her time on the court, averaging 10.0 points and 3.3 rebounds per game off the bench.
This includes her four minutes of action in the 90-86 loss to Indiana on Aug. 8, when Carrington was ejected after receiving a flagrant 2 foul for a hard hit on Cunningham.

However, ahead of the matchup against the Valkyries, Carrington was unable to practice leading up to the game due to the lingering foot issue. And she was later ruled out for Friday’s win, Carrington’s first missed game since July.
And on Saturday, one day before the Sky’s rematch against the Fever, Chicago revealed their latest injury report, listing Carrington as questionable due to the same injury.
Guard Skylar Diggins remains out with a right knee injury, while guard Aisha Coulibaly was taken off the injury report entirely after recovering from a right knee issue.
“For Chicago’s regular season game against the Indiana Fever on Aug. 23: Skylar Diggins – OUT (Right Knee). DiJonai Carrington – QUESTIONABLE (Left Foot),” Chicago State of Mind Sports wrote on X.

Following the Fever matchup, the Sky will be back in action on Tuesday, hitting the road to face Brittney Griner and the Connecticut Sun at 7 p.m. ET.
