Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh revealed that he wants to meet San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy.
Before the preseason game between the Chargers and 49ers on Thursday at SoFi Stadium, Harbaugh openly made a request regarding the San Francisco QB.
During his media availability, Harbaugh expressed a desire to meet Purdy in person and hoped that 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan would make it happen.
“I want to meet Brock Purdy,” Harbaugh said. “I want to shake his hand. Hopefully, Kyle will introduce me to him. It’s super fun to be on the same field and talking, and talking ball.”
Purdy has been the reliable quarterback for the 49ers ever since he was drafted by the team in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Harbaugh also explained why he wants to have a chat with the former Iowa State standout.
“Just how good he is,” Harbaugh continued. “His timing, his decision-making, his accuracy, just how cool he is, how cool he plays. And all that.”
Last season, Purdy threw for 2,167 yards and 20 touchdowns against 10 interceptions in nine games after returning from a turf toe injury.
Purdy and San Francisco finished the regular season with a 12-5 record, placed third in the NFC West division and reached the playoffs.
They won their Wild Card Round game against the Philadelphia Eagles, but crashed out in the following round after absorbing a 6-41 defeat at the hands of the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Seattle Seahawks.
The 49ers look to bounce back against the Chargers in their second preseason game after suffering defeat against the Tennessee Titans, 19-13, in their opener.
