The NBA offseason is officially underway and teams around the league are preparing for the first round of the 2026 NBA Draft on Tuesday night.
One of those teams is the Boston Celtics as the team looks to upgrade their roster this summer to compete for a top seed in the Eastern Conference and chase another championship next season.

Of course, the Celtics had been at the forefront of trade rumors to begin the offseason as they were linked to Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo before he was dealt to the Miami Heat in a trade Monday night.
With Boston unable to land Giannis, trade rumors have continued to swirl around the organization and it was revealed Tuesday that they are listening to offers for one of their star players.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Celtics are listening to offers for star forward Jaylen Brown ahead of the first round of the 2026 draft Tuesday night.
This is a massive report by Charania, though it is not entirely surprising after he reported that the Celtics offered Brown and two first-round picks to the Bucks for Giannis Monday before the star forward was sent to the Heat.
Even though Milwaukee did not accept Boston’s offer for Giannis, it appears as though the Celtics may still be open to moving Brown this offseason to potentially add another star next to Jayson Tatum and the rest of their core who may be a better fit.

Of course, Brown and Tatum’s fit alongside each other has been critiqued for many seasons, despite the two leading Boston to a championship in 2024, and the Celtics may elect to separate the duo this offseason.
For Brown, he emerged as an MVP candidate last season as the 29-year-old forward ended the year averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 47.7% from the field and 34.7% from three.

With his incredible season last year, Brown’s trade value is likely at its highest, which could mark the perfect opportunity for the Celtics to move him, especially with reports that multiple teams are showing interest in the star forward..
While Boston could elect to move the 29-year-old star this offseason, the franchise may also choose to keep him on their roster if they are unable to find the right deal for him as they try to compete for another title next season.
