Jaylen Brown has been in dominant form throughout the 2025-26 season, emerging as the leader of the Boston Celtics during stretches where Jayson Tatum was sidelined while recovering from his Achilles injury. Brown improved his game on both ends of the floor, putting together one of the most productive seasons of his NBA career and keeping Boston firmly among the top teams in the league.

Brown had been on a tear in recent weeks, delivering multiple high-scoring performances and building a strong case as an MVP candidate. His run includes five 30+ point outings in March, which has helped Boston maintain its hold as the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference.

However, Brown’s momentum was halted after he suffered left Achilles tendinitis during a win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, forcing him out of the lineup.

The injury sidelined the 2024 NBA Finals MVP for two straight games against the Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets as the Celtics opted for a cautious approach.

Brown was cleared to return on Monday and made his comeback against Atlanta. Despite his return, Boston fell 112–102, with Brown finishing with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists, though he struggled with efficiency, shooting 9-of-29 from the field and committing six turnovers.

After the game, Brown was asked about the Achilles injury and downplayed any major concern.

“Nah, everybody’s dealing with something,” Brown told CLNS’ Noa Dalzell. “Just some soreness. Definitely want to make sure you stay healthy as much as possible & you don’t want to risk anything, but it’ll be fine going forward.”

Through 66 games this season, Brown has averaged 28.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.2 assists, and remains central to Boston’s success. With Tatum now back in the lineup, the Celtics believe the duo can lead them on another deep postseason run and compete for an NBA title.

The Celtics, who have reached the 50-win mark, are expected to carefully manage Brown’s workload with seven games remaining. They will return to action Wednesday against the Miami Heat before concluding their current road trip against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Boston will then play four of its final five regular-season games at home, with the lone road contest in that stretch coming against the New York Knicks. As the playoffs approach, managing Brown’s health remains a priority for a team with championship expectations.
