Jaylen Brown spent a decade with the Boston Celtics before he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday. Brown was sent to the City of Brotherly Love, with Boston receiving the 36-year-old Paul George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks.
In 10 seasons with the Celtics, the former No. 3 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft scored 13,474 points in 674 games for an average of 20 points per game. For counting stats, the five-time All-Star also averaged 5.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.0 steals in 31.0 minutes per game. The Wheeler High School graduate also shot 73.9% from the free-throw line, 47.8% from the field and 35.8% from three-point range on 1.9 made per game.

From being named to two All-NBA teams, helping lead the Celtics to a championship in 2024 and winning Finals MVP, and being ranked No. 8 on Boston Magazine’s “150 Most Influential Bostonians” list for 2026, Team President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens has made a statement with the trade. On Thursday, Stevens made another roster move.
On the social media platform X, Celtics insider Marc D’Amico reported that forward Amari Williams has signed a two-way contract with the Celtics. The contract is reportedly worth $2.7 million. After finishing his college basketball career with the Kentucky Wildcats, Williams was drafted No. 46 overall by the Orlando Magic in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft and immediately traded to Boston.
The English native appeared in 22 games for the Celtics during the 2025-26 NBA season, starting two of them. Averaging 6.6 minutes per game, the 24-year-old produced 1.4 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.5 assists and blocks per game. The 6-foot-11 forward shot 50% from the field and 71.4% from the free-throw line.
“Amari Williams has signed his two-way contract with the Celtics,” wrote D’Amico on X.
The Celtics received a 2028 first-round pick, an unprotected first-round pick in 2031, a 2028 second-round pick and a 2030 second-round pick from the 76ers in the Brown trade, along with George.
