How good does CBS Sports really feel about Jim Nantz and Tony Romo?
Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports reported earlier this week, that the network isn't buying into any criticism regarding the broadcasting duo, which has been working together since 2017.
“If the 45-year-old Romo were in trouble, he’d be hearing it from the CBS suits in New York, starting with president David Berson. He’s not, say sources,” Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports reported.
“CBS’s top producer Jim Rikhoff and lead director Mike Arnold would be all over Romo and Nantz with suggestions. That’s not happening either, say sources.”
But is that actually the case?
Andrew Marchand of The Athletic isn't necessarily buying it. He finds it hard to believe that CBS Sports feels good about the Nantz and Romo duo.
How does CBS feel about Nantz and Romo?
Marchand pointed to some struggles with this weekend's game, between the Bills and the Broncos, as a reason for why CBS should still be cautious about Romo and Nantz.
"I have too much respect for CBS Sports top execs and producers to believe they don't know Jim Nantz and Tony Romo are an issue," he wrote.
Romo and Nantz will do one final game this season, calling the AFC Championship Game between the No. 1 seed Denver Broncos and No. 2 seed New England Patriots.
Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. E.T. on Sunday.
The game will air on CBS.
