CBS has the rights to a pair of intriguing Week 4 matchups in the late afternoon window, but the network has already decided where the No. 1 crew of Jim Nantz and J.J. Watt will travel to for this weekend.
Some fans thought CBS would prioritize this Sunday’s showdown between the Denver Broncos (2-1) and San Francisco 49ers (3-0). The Broncos are coming off a thrilling comeback victory over the Los Angeles Rams. Despite trailing 16-0 on “Sunday Night Football,” Sean Payton’s squad clawed their way to a 30-26 win. The 49ers, meanwhile, kept their perfect start to the season alive by defeating the Arizona Cardinals in a shootout.
While the Broncos-49ers game should be fun to watch, CBS is sending Nantz and Romo to Allegiant Stadium to call an AFC West showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders.
Both the Chiefs and Raiders are 3-0 at the moment, so it makes sense that CBS is prioritizing this game over the Broncos-49ers matchup.
Besides, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are must-watch TV when they’re healthy. They should generate great ratings for CBS this Sunday.

The Raiders are the surprise of the season (so far).
Not even Raiders fans had lofty expectations for the 2026 season, which makes sense considering the team went 3-14 in 2025 and 4-13 in 2024.
That being said, Klint Kubiak already has the Raiders at 3-0 with back-to-back wins on the road. Kirk Cousins has been highly efficient, completing 67.4% of his passes for 661 yards with nine touchdowns and an interception.
If the Raiders defeat the Chiefs this Sunday, it’ll be impossible to ignore them in the AFC playoff picture.
