An official cause of death has been announced for a U.S. hiker found dead at 51 years old earlier this year.
Theodore S. Troth, 51, went missing. The Florida native had been renting a place at Adirondack Cabins on State Route 9 in the town of Schroon since Jan. 25. He was last seen leaving the New York cabin on Feb. 19 to go hiking on the Crane Pond Trail.
After he wasn't found at his cabin, a search got underway.
"A coordinated search effort was launched involving the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, New York State Forest Rangers and State Police. State Police deployed K-9 and unmanned aerial systems units, while Forest Rangers used snowmobiles to cover the terrain," Syracuse.com reported.
"Forest Rangers located Troth at approximately 6:24 p.m. on Tuesday at the south end of Oxshoe Pond, which is accessible from the Crane Pond Trailhead. He was found dead, and the scene showed no signs of foul play."

Tragically, Troth was found dead via suicide.
"An autopsy has determined that a 51-year-old Florida man found dead on an Adirondack hiking trail died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head," the report states.
"An autopsy on Theodore S. Troth at Glens Falls Hospital on Friday. The manner of death has been ruled a suicide."
