Last month, Carlos Alcaraz not only clinched his maiden Australian Open crown but also became the youngest player in history, at 22, to complete the career grand slam. In the last few months, he has been in splendid form, emerging a champion in almost every event he's appeared in. Now he's set his eyes on the next big goal in 2026, but it's not another slam or a ATP Masters 1000 title.
Apart from his brilliance at the slams and the Masters, Alcaraz has cemented his place as a star in the Laver Cup. Since its maiden edition in 2017, this team tournament has grown in popularity while boasting competitive encounters between Team World and Team Europe.
While Team Europe has won the trophy five times already, its opponent stunned it last year. Alcaraz made his Laver Cup debut in 2024 and helped Team Europe snatch a fifth title in dramatic fashion against Team World's Taylor Fritz on the final day. However, the latter took his revenge in 2025's edition in San Francisco.

Fritz registered his first victory against Alcaraz while providing his team a solid edge to come out on top. On the final day, Fritz then snatched an important victory against Team Europe's Alexander Zverev to lead Team World to its first title in two years and third overall.
Alcaraz was left disappointed after the Team Europe loss in San Francisco. However, he is now all set to leave it behind while focusing on this year's edition. It will take place inside the O2 Arena in London from Sept. 25-27. In his Instagram story posted on Friday, the Spaniard sent a clear message. "We're ready!" he wrote while reacting to an official post by Laver Cup's account for the 2026 event.
Apart from returning Team Europe to its winning ways, Alcaraz would also like to avenge his defeat against Fritz from their face-off in San Francisco.
The seven-time major champion is preparing for his next tennis event this season. After securing two successive titles in Melbourne and Doha, he will try complete a hat trick at the Indian Wells. The ATP Masters 1000 event will take from March 4-15.
