The Indianapolis Colts fell to the Kansas City Chiefs, 33-30, on Sunday evening. Kansas City topped Indianapolis in overtime.
Throughout the game, Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon was spotted on the sideline, taking notes. She was seen walking up and down the sideline throughout the game. It’s rare behavior from an NFL owner.
Longtime reporter Michele Steele called out Irsay-Gordon for her behavior on Sunday evening, making it clear that she thinks it could be a distraction for players and coaches on the team.
“Still don’t understand how the owner of the team hovering up and down the sideline helps in critical situations,” she posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Indianapolis Colts owner, who took over the team following the death of her father, Jim Irsay, was seen taking notes.
It’s unclear what kind of input she has during games.
Irsay-Gordon called out Colts coaches, management before season
The Indianapolis Colts owner said following the 2025 season that her head coach and general manager were facing serious pressure to deliver in 2026.
“You’re right to be frustrated with how the latter part of our season went,” Irsay-Gordon said at the end of the 2025 season. “I’m (expletive). We are all (expletive).”
She added, “I want our fans to know I hear them. … It’s not good enough. It’s not to the standard. … [The players] played their (butts) off this year, but at the end of the day, our fans, we understand and we want to validate that.”
The Colts are now 0-2 on the season, so the owner of the team surely won’t be happy. It’ll be interesting to see how much patience Irsay-Gordon has moving forward.
Indianapolis will be taking on the Houston Texans in Week 3. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. E.T. on CBS.
