With Kyler Murray no longer in the picture, the Arizona Cardinals have a clear need at quarterback. However, the front office might make a few more tweaks to the roster before finding its Week 1 starter.
The Cardinals will pay Murray $36.8 million for the 2026 season despite the fact that he won't be on their roster. Although some people thought a trade would go down, we can't ignore that Murray is due $19.5 million in guarantees by March 15. The front office can't afford to spend even more money on a player who isn't part of head coach Mike LaFleur's vision. As a result, Murray will be released on the first day of the new league year.
“To everyone that supported me and showed kindness to my family and I during my time in AZ, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. I wanted nothing more than to be the one to end the 77 year drought for this organization, I am sorry I failed us,” Murray wrote on social media. “I wish this community and my brothers nothing but the best. I am no stranger to adversity, I am prepared for whatever’s next. I trust in God and my work ethic. I truly believe my best ball is in front of me and I look forward to proving it. Godspeed.”
While there's no doubt Arizona will be in the quarterback market this offseason, Ben Volin of the Boston Globe is reporting that Jacoby Brissett could be on the move.
Brissett started in 12 games for the Cardinals this season, completing 64.9% of his passes for 3,366 yards with 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He's set to have a $4.8 million base salary for the 2026 season.

Two suitors emerge for Jacoby Brissett.
There's a strong belief that Brissett will reunite with Frank Reich on the New York Jets. They worked together from 2018-2020.
Brissett could also link up with Atlanta Falcons coaches Kevin Stefanski and Alex Van Pelt since he's familiar with their offensive system.
As for the Cardinals, they're apparently interested in Jimmy Garoppolo. That makes sense considering he spent the past two seasons with LaFleur as his offensive coordinator.
