The Arizona Cardinals will very likely need a new quarterback after this season.
The team has Jacoby Brissett in place as the starter currently. Brissett has been a solid veteran placeholder, but he’s obviously not the long-term answer. Brissett and the Cardinals have also been in disagreement about his contract situation.
Fortunately, it’s a good time to need a quarterback. The 2027 NFL Draft class is loaded with talent, especially at quarterback. Arch Manning, Trinidad Chambliss, and Dante Moore are just some of the biggest names who will be draft eligible.
It’s thus no surprise that a recent mock has the Cardinals going this route and taking a quarterback in the first round in 2027.

Luke Easterling of Athlon Sports publishes a new mock each week. In his most recent edition, Easterling has the Cardinals selecting Ole Miss star passer Trinidad Chambliss with the No. 6 pick.
Chambliss has rocketed up draft boards over the last several months. The quarterback didn’t even begin 2025 as a starter, but he earned the job and has never looked back. Chambliss threw for 3,937 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2025, leading Ole Miss to the College Football Playoff.
Easterling offered the following on Chambliss and the Cardinals:
As Easterling mentioned, just because the Cardinals spent a third-round pick on Carson Beck in 2025, doesn’t mean the team won’t use another high pick on a passer in 2026. It’s clear that Chambliss has much higher upside than Beck.
Easterling also knows Chambliss doesn’t have ideal height, but when he’s as good as he is at everything else, that shouldn’t be a dealbreaker.
So far in 2026, Chambliss has thrown for 924 yards with seven touchdowns and just two interceptions. The quarterback has the Rebels at 3-0 with an impressive, ranked win over LSU already.
In Arizona, Chambliss would actually be in a good situation. The Cardinals have maybe the best tight end in the league in Trey McBride, as well as two talented receivers and a solid running game. It’s clear the Cardinals need a new franchise passer, and they likely won’t be able to pass a player like Chambliss up.
