Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward took to the podium after the Titans' first practice of training camp. Ward had many things to discuss, but after being asked about his connection with newcomer Wan'Dale Robinson, he was quick to share an eye-catching response.
"He really got a key to my house. He can walk in anytime, so I mean, him being there and the attitude that he brings — that is all I can ask for out of my slot receiver," Ward stated.
Ward also bragged about how Robinson has been stepping up when it comes to meetings.
"When I call a meeting, and when we are throwing, he is always there. He don't make excuses; he runs routes, and he knows that I will run them into the dirt too. When he is running routes, he wants the ball for a reason, because they know if they're not doing what I want, I'm not going to throw them the ball. They all see that, and he sees that the most, especially with him being in the league, and he is going to have a really special year," Ward said.
The Titans are going to rely on Robinson plenty this season, as Ward is expected to once again be under pressure. When he was under pressure last season, he was looking for his closest options, which are usually the slot receiver and the tight end. Just a season ago, the leading receiver on the team was tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo, because the Titans didn't have the exact production that they had hoped for from the wide receivers. With a 1,000-yard receiver in town, Ward can expect to be bailed out more now than he has in the past.

The chemistry between the two will be needed this season, as this is a new connection that will be seen on Sunday, but it will also be a new offensive scheme for Ward to tackle. Luckily for Ward, Robinson has spent time under new Titans offensive coordinator Brian Daboll when Daboll was the head coach of the New York Giants, and will have an advantage that the other wide receivers won't have.
In the NFL, there aren't many things that are more crucial than a wide receiver and a quarterback being on time with their pass-to-reception connection. This is going to be needed at 100% if the Titans want to get ahead in the season come Week 1 against the New York Jets.
From the way that Ward has spoken about Robinson, it seems the two's connection is undeniable, and could lead to some big plays this season.
