The Tennessee Titanshad another practice on Thursday, but this time it was in front of the NFL Network, which was in attendance watching the franchise up close.
The network spoke to multiple guests, including Titans quarterback Cam Ward, who would later be asked about the selection of Carnell Tate in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Cam Ward calls Carnell Tate an "elite playmaker"
"I was in Nashville. I was at the house. I had it on, man, and I saw who the (Arizona) Cardinals took right there (Jeremiah Love, running back, Notre Dame). Then I saw that we used it (the selection) to get an unbelievable playmaker at four. So when we got him (Carnell Tate), I was smiling ear to ear when we got him. He's been incredible; he's himself each and every day. I believe the best thing about him is that he's a people person, and then on the field he is an elite wide receiver for even how young he is coming out of Ohio State, but he's going to make a lot of plays for me this year," Ward said when speaking with the NFL Network on Thursday.
Carnell Tate carries WR1 weight for Titans Offense
Tate is joining a great wide receiver corps, as he joins slot wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson and veteran wide receiver Calvin Ridley, who fans can expect to play on the opposite side of the rookie receiver. While each wide receiver has a great chance to succeed, Tate is going to be the player that fans look at the most to determine exactly how successful the passing offense is under Ward in his second season. This is due to the fact that the franchise selected Tate with the No. 4 pick over the likes of Sonny Styles and Caleb Downs, who would have made plenty of sense.
Tate has already had some up-and-down days in practice, but on Thursday he looked like a star. If the quarterback and the wide receiver can connect throughout the season, the sky is the limit for the offensive success under head coach Robert Saleh and offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.
