Cam Schlittler continues to rewrite the New York Yankees record book, and his latest accomplishment came during another dominant outing against the Los Angeles Angels.
The 25-year-old right-hander allowed one run on two hits across eight innings Wednesday, striking out nine without issuing a walk as New York eventually secured a 6-3 victory in 10 innings.
More importantly, the performance gave Schlittler his 19th start this season allowing one run or fewer, setting a new Yankees single-season record.
The Yankees highlighted the milestone through their official X account following the performance.
Schlittler moved past three franchise legends with the achievement. Ron Guidry had 18 such starts during his historic 1978 Cy Young season, while Whitey Ford reached the same mark in 1964. Jack Chesbro also had 18 in 1904.
Schlittler’s latest gem also lowered his American League-leading ERA to 2.04 through 29 starts. He has struck out 210 batters across 171⅔ innings while posting a 0.94 WHIP.
His dominance has been especially impressive away from Yankee Stadium. Schlittler owns a 1.14 ERA through his first 16 road starts, while also carrying a 21-start streak in which he has recorded more strikeouts than hits allowed.
The outing against Los Angeles was another example of his ability to work deep into games. Schlittler retired the Angels in order in the eighth before handing the game to New York’s bullpen.

The Yankees eventually broke a 1-1 tie with five runs in the 10th inning, giving Schlittler another strong performance without a decision.
New York entered Friday at 80-60, sitting 3 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East while holding a strong Wild Card position.
With the postseason approaching, Schlittler’s emergence gives the Yankees an ace capable of matching up against any opponent. His latest franchise record only adds to what has become a remarkable second season in the Bronx.
