The New York Yankees are looking to get hot out of the All-Star break. Since returning, they've gone 2-2, but have picked up back-to-back wins over the Los Angeles Dodgers and Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Yankees are aiming to make a third straight postseason appearance. At 56-44, they have a 4.5-game lead for a wild card spot and are just 1.5 games back from the Tampa Bay Rays for an American League East lead. More than halfway through the season, New York is well on its way to a playoff berth.
Of course, ninth-year manager Aaron Boone is feeling pressure to reach new heights. Since taking over in 2018, he's led the Yankees to seven postseason appearances and one World Series appearance, but has never won it all.

Despite any outside criticism, though, it's clear the skipper has the support of his players. Yankees starting pitcher Cam Schlittler recently joined the "On Base" podcast, hosted by Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts. The right-hander delivered a clear vote of confidence in Boone.
“He’s awesome,” Schlittler said. “He’s the man. I think the guys love him, they respect him, you know he’s a player-first manager and that’s all you can really ask for. I’ve had great conversations with him and I feel like the respect is mutual and regardless of what they’re saying out there, I think he’s been amazing for us.”
Schlittler's opinion is shared by many within the organization. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman recently praised Boone, saying, "I think he's a very hard worker, very well connected. I think he's prepared," according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch.
With the Yankees firmly in the postseason, Boone will remain under the spotlight throughout the second half. While pressure may continue to grow, Schlittler's comments indicate that he has the respect and trust of his players.
