With the 2026 NFL season less than two months away, Cam Newton has shared his rankings for the top 10 quarterbacks in the league.
Newton, a three-time Pro Bowler and former MVP, had 32,382 passing yards and 5,628 rushing yards during his NFL career. He certainly knows what it takes to be a franchise quarterback at the highest level.
While most fans usually have Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes at the top of their quarterback rankings, Newton believes the best signal-caller in the NFL right now is none other than Matthew Stafford. To be fair, Stafford is coming off a season where he completed 65% of his passes for 4,707 yards with 46 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
"Matthew Stafford is the last of the as far as how he plays. He's not the razzle dazzle footwork type of guy. He is a person who can carve up a defense in the pocket," Newton explained. "There's not a lot of guys that are still in this league that are able to throw the football as effectively, as efficiently, and as tactical as Matthew Stafford."

Who missed the cut for Cam?
Newton mentioned Jayden Daniels, Justin Herbert, Trevor Lawrence, Baker Mayfield and C.J. Stroud as quarterbacks who missed the top 10. Interestingly enough, he didn't even consider bringing up Jared Goff or Jalen Hurts.
Of course, this top 10 from Newton could age poorly over the next few months. However, we doubt Stafford slips up during the 2026 season.
If anything, Stafford has everything at his disposal to validate Newton's praise.
