No. 5 Texas enters Week 2 with an opportunity to avenge last season’s 14-7 loss to current No. 1 Ohio State, when the Longhorns managed only seven points and remained scoreless through the first three quarters in Columbus.
New Texas wide receiver Cam Coleman delivered a direct warning Monday shortly after Buckeyes wideout Jeremiah Smith called for Ohio State to beat the Longhorns in Week 2 after sitting out the second half of Week 1’s game.
Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day revealed after his program’s win that Smith agreed with his decision, telling him, “I get it, coach, whatever you guys want to do, I trust you. Let’s just go beat Texas next week.”
Coleman had a very straightforward answer to that.
“We’re coming,” Coleman said. “We’re coming.”
Texas showed considerable firepower in Saturday’s 59-7 season-opening victory over Texas State, with Coleman catching three passes for 70 yards and two touchdowns in his debut.
Fellow wideout Ryan Wingo, however, led the Longhorns with seven receptions for 121 yards, adding another touchdown.
Smith’s eight receptions turned into 151 yards in Week 1, with all of his production coming before the break. Buckeyes QB Julian Sayin finished Ohio State’s opener with 320 passing yards and three touchdowns while adding a rushing score, and didn’t play after halftime either.

Texas quarterback Arch Manning opened his season with 305 passing yards and four touchdowns, nearly doubling his yardage from last year’s Ohio State matchup, when he finished with 170 yards through the air.
