For the second straight day, Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams was a full participant in practice, indicating that he will be back in the starting lineup soon – perhaps as early as this weekend. So in one of his first media sessions since his fateful injury against the Minnesota Vikings, he addressed the moment of his injury.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Williams was asked to address criticism over the amount of emotion he showed after hurting his leg while being carted off the field. Williams defended his response, declaring that he’ll always be a person who shows emotions because he wants to show everyone how much he cares.
“Yeah, I’m always going to show emotion, especially when I can’t be out there with the guys… I care about the team, the organization, winning, being out there, my teammates—all of that. I care, and that’s the biggest thing. This is what I love to do. This puts a smile on my face. It’s everything to me. So, not being able to be out there was frustrating. That was more of the tears, or whatever that was,” Williams said, via Ari Meirov.
Proud of him
Bears fans were certainly happy to see Williams in such good spirits and so passionate about his team. Many offered words of encouragement and are looking forward to seeing his return.
“I can respect this from Caleb. He seems like a good kid who’s invested in his teammates. Good on him,” one user on X replied.
“This was an awesome contentious press conference. I love our petty quarterback. Makes me proud to be a Bears fan!” wrote another.
“I love this dude,” a third said.

The Bears were able to win back-to-back games in Williams’ absence thanks to Case Keenum, but lost this past week to the Green Bay Packers with Tyson Bagent under center.
Williams won’t have a whole lot of time to get back to full health though. After the Bears take on the Falcons this weekend, the Bears return home on Thursday for a game against the defending AFC Champion New England Patriots.
We’ll find out quickly just how “back” Williams is.
