Amid the Indiana Fever’s current five-game winning streak, Caitlin Clark has looked sensational, leading the team in assists while averaging over 24 points a game in that span. She’s performing so well that at least one WNBA reporter believes that her MVP candidacy is “undeniable.”
Taking to X on Thursday, longtime sports writer Christine Brennan called it “undeniable” that Clark would be in the “top 2 or 3 for MVP” of the WNBA.
“Lots of WNBA MVP chatter now. As someone who has covered the NFL, CFB, Olympics, etc., for years, I’ve never spent much time thinking about MVP or other awards this far from season’s end. That said, if asked right now, it’s undeniable: Caitlin Clark is in the top 2 or 3 for MVP,” Brennan wrote.
Fans in Brennan’s comments were intrigued by the idea of Clark winning the award. Some feel that it’s already hers while others were a little more skeptical:
“It’s nice to be talking basketball. I have CC22 as number 2. She keeps this play up that she has had the last dozen games, I think she has a great chance. Especially is Fever finish above the Aces. Top of her game. Last game was a stinker for her with her standards. Still entertaining, exciting and a win,” one user remarked.
“What happens in the World Cup matters! If Caitlin wins MVP there, how could she be denied in the WNBA. In addition, Caitlin has transformed the WNBA, and what has she received for it? I think she may walk! League needs to show her some love!” wrote another.
“She is the MVP. Why is it hard for everyone to just say things as it is?” a third wrote.

The Case for Clark
Clark is currently averaging a league-leading 8.2 assists per game. She also ranks third in the league with 22.1 points per game.
The one mark against her is her league-leading 151 turnovers – 27 more than the next player and 41 more than the player with the third-most.
But it’s still a strong case to make.
The other contenders for the MVP right now would likely be Las Vegas Aces megastar and reigning MVP A’ja Wilson, who leads the league in both points per game and blocks per game while ranking third in rebounds per game, and Clark’s own teammate Kelsey Mitchell, who is second in the league in points per game and 3-point FG percentage.
At 24-12 on the season, the Fever are just one win away from tying their single season franchise record and rank third in the WNBA regular season standings. If Clark and the Fever keep this up, it’s going to be hard to deny them any trophy, let alone the MVP award.
