The Indiana Fever kicked off their road trip with an overtime win against the Atlanta Dream at State Farm Arena. Another chapter was added to the Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese rivalry as the stars faced each other on Sunday.
Reese dominated the boards with 14 rebounds to go along with 15 points and six assists. Rhyne Howard added 17 points and five assists. Allisha Gray led the way for the home squad with 32 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
Makayla Timpson had a solid game for Indiana, scoring 20 points. The Fever Big 3, on the other hand, combined for 64 points.
Aliyah Boston had a dominant game with 18 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, five steals and three blocks. Kelsey Mitchell chipped in 20 points while Clark led the way with 26 points and nine assists.
The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year busted out her signature step-back three-point shot again on Sunday night. This time around, it was Reese who was on the wrong end of Clark's latest highlight reel.
Clark ran through a double screen as she brought the ball down the floor. Reese switched to her after the second screen, and the 6-foot sharpshooter fully capitalized on the matchup.
Clark pulled off a crossover move before stepping back and then drilling the shot from 24 feet. This was her first three-pointer in the game, extending the Fever’s lead to eight with 5:35 remaining in the first quarter.
With this win, the Fever improve to 23-12 this season. Their next game will be against the Toronto Tempo at Scotiabank Arena on Tuesday. Indiana’s next home game will be on Aug. 28 against the Connecticut Sun.
