Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark and Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese became World Cup champions together after helping Team USA defeat France on Sunday.

Clark finished with 12 points and three assists in 13 minutes of action as Team USA blew out France 97-79 in the FIBA World Cup final. Reese, for her part, tallied three points, three rebounds, one steal and one block in nine minutes of playing time.

After the victory, the Team USA players and coaches were naturally in a celebratory mood. What stood out from the postgame celebrations, however, was Clark’s moment with Reese and her fellow Dream star Rhyne Howard.

Clark, Reese and Howard took a photo together while showing off their gold medals and the FIBA World Cup championship trophy.

FIBA shared a photo of the moment, writing in the caption, “Everyone has a World Cup bestie.”

Fans were quick to react to the exchange, with many loving the interaction. After all, Clark and Reese have often been pitted against each other in the WNBA, thanks to the intense rivalry they built during their collegiate days.

“AR x CC. LETS GAURRRR,” a fan wrote. Another supporter said, “YESSS CC AND AR THE ULTIMATE DUOOO.”

“This picture is fire,” a social media user shared. A fourth poster echoed a similar sentiment, saying, “omg love this pic.”

A fifth social media user noted, “It was GREAT seeing them play together. I definitely wouldn’t mind seeing more of it down the road in the future!”

“I loved seeing them play together. I hate that we have to return to them beefing the WNBA,” a follower stated.

Clark and Reese’s chemistry was on full display during the tournament. In fact, during Team USA’s quarterfinal game against Hungary, the two connected on a number of plays.

Furthermore, after Team USA’s championship win, Clark turned a lot of heads when a reporter tried to bait her about her relationship with Reese. The Fever guard emphasized that she and Reese have “always been friends.”
