The Indiana Fever got a big road win over the Toronto Tempo last night and are now on the cusp of playoff qualification and a franchise record for wins. But they were forced to complete that win without leading scorer Kelsey Mitchell, who had to leave the game early.
Mitchell left in the third quarter for a then-unspecified reason and did not return to the game. However, Fever head coach Stephanie White announced that she left due to “overheating” in the Scotiabank Arena venue.
Mitchell made the most of her time on the court before leaving though, contributing 29 points in less than 25 minutes on the court.
Clark’s Got Jokes
Speaking to ESPN’s Holly Rowe after the game, Clark joked (or perhaps complained) that if Canada had air conditioning like the United States does, it might not have been an issue at all.
“Well, maybe if Canada had air conditioning, that would be helpful,” Clark told Rowe. “It’s a million degrees in here. Hopefully she’ll be okay, but we certainly missed her.”
Clark might have found the heat amusing, but fans definitely did not:
“What kind of psychopath do you have to be to not put AC in an arena…” one user on X remarked.
“Now Dallas immediately turning up the heat in their stadium so it’s ready for Thursday,” a third mused.

“Oh boy, people are about to have a field day over a playful comment on the temperature lol.”
“That gym is about to be 60 degrees Fahrenheit next time the Fever come to town,” another pledged.
“Even Kelsey had to leave. These Canadians tryna sabotage my team.”
“Hey so the arena the Mercury play in is absolutely freezing during 110 F weather. No reason for it to be so hot players get sick.”
Clark was just joking around in the end. She played most of her college basketball career at venues without air conditioning, so it’s something she’s probably used to. It was just a fun little rib at Canada.
