Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark has owned up to her role as the team’s main facilitator and has acknowledged the importance of her impact.
The Fever endured a tough two-game road trip out west, suffering back-to-back losses to the Golden State Valkyries and the Portland Fire.
On Thursday, they had a close defeat to the Valkyries, 90-88. But the following game on Saturday, they absorbed a 100-84 beating from the Fire.
Clark’s poor performances in these games were one of the main reasons for this skid, and she admitted it during her recent practice media availability.
“I'm the point guard, so it's on me to help this team and this franchise win,” Clark said. “I certainly know that, and I take that on my shoulders.”

During this two-game stretch, Clark only averaged 11.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists.
The Iowa standout had a forgettable outing against the Fire, with only six points, two rebounds and six assists.
But Clark was quick to brush it off and now looks ahead to the season, as they try to pick up the slack.
“I critique myself more than anybody, and I have to be better,” she said.
“Right now, we're playing like the .500 team that we are. I have to look myself in the mirror and find ways that I can make this team better. How I can get better individually.
“More than anything, that's going to make us better collectively as a group.”
Clark and Indiana are now bracing themselves to defend their Commissioner’s Cup title. They open their campaign on Thursday against the Atlanta Dream.
