After a grueling eight-month hiatus from competitive basketball, Caitlin Clark is officially back. The Indiana Fever star made her senior national team debut for Team USA at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament. She showed the world that the injury-riddled 2025 WNBA season is now behind her.

Plagued by recurring injuries, Clark was limited to just 13 games last season. A right groin strain ultimately forced the Fever to shut her down for the remainder of the campaign. The decision was made to protect her long-term health.

The 24-year-old guard did not rush her return. Instead, she spent the next eight months focused on rehabilitation. She worked closely with trainers and medical staff to rebuild her body and regain confidence in her movement. By the time she returned to competitive play, she had brought back the sharpness and control that define her game.

In a recent interview, Clark reflected on her agonizing journey back to the court. She noted she finally feels like herself again and is completely healthy.

“More than anything, I really did feel like myself,” the WNBA star said. “I feel really healthy. A lot of people put in a lot of time to get back there. It's crazy to think it was eight months. Just excited for the W season. I miss playing in front of fans in every city.”

During the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifiers in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Clark quickly reestablished her presence. She showed flashes of the dynamic playmaking and deep shooting range that made her a household name. More importantly, she looked comfortable again — moving freely, making quick decisions, and leading her team, especially during critical moments.

The results of the competition spoke for themselves. The superstar guard didn’t just participate — she dominated. Clark finished the qualifiers with team-leading totals of 58 points and 32 assists. After leading Team USA to a perfect 5-0 record, the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year was named the tournament’s MVP.

Many now expect Clark to replicate her outstanding play during the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin, Germany, in September. Team USA is chasing its 12th championship ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

For now, with Clark back in Indiana preparing for the 2026 WNBA season, the message is clear. The Caitlin Clark era is back on track, and she is healthier than ever.
