Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers have now gone their separate ways following the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin, Germany. The two WNBA stars made their senior debut for Team USA in the recently concluded quadrennial tournament, and they both played a key role in the national team’s gold medal victory.
Clark and Bueckers both came off the bench for head coach Kara Lawson. The Indiana Fever superstar averaged 7.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists, while the Dallas Wings guard put up 7.3 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists across six games.
The U.S. went a perfect 6-0 en route to winning their fifth straight World Cup title and their 12th overall.
On Tuesday, Bueckers took to social media to share some of her favorite photos from her first-ever senior World Cup experience. She included a parting message as she officially closes this chapter of her international career.
“We locked in twin! Mission complete 🤝THANK YOU @usabasketball💙❤️🤞🏼” Bueckers wrote.
Clark was among Bueckers’ USA teammates who reacted to her post. The Fever star did not have any words for Bueckers, choosing to express her reaction with two emojis.
“🔥🔥” Clark replied.
Both Clark and Bueckers will now rejoin their respective teams for the resumption of the WNBA season. The Fever are in action on Friday against the Toronto Tempo, while the Wings face the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday.
Both Indiana and Dallas have already secured playoff spots. Clark and Co. are currently fifth in the standings with a 26-14 record, while Bueckers and the Wings are eighth at 24-16.
Both teams have four games remaining in the regular season and they can still improve on their final seeding heading into the playoffs.
