Caitlin Clark is once again set to headline the upcoming WNBA season as she prepares to lead the Indiana Fever toward a championship push. Since being selected first overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Clark has had a transformative impact on the league, driving record attendance, viewership and merchandise sales while setting new statistical standards early in her professional career.
Clark’s rookie season was historic: she won WNBA Rookie of the Year, earned All‑Star honors and made the All‑WNBA First Team, and she set league records for assists and triple‑doubles while averaging 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds in 40 games.
Entering 2025, she was expected to take another leap, but her season was curtailed by injuries. She suffered a severe groin injury and a bone bruise in her left knee that limited her to just 13 games, during which she averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5.0 rebounds.

While Clark remains arguably the face of the WNBA, her interests and sports fandom extend beyond basketball. One of her most well-known allegiances is to the Chicago Cubs, a team she has supported publicly over the years. Clark has participated in Cubs events and even delivered a ceremonial first pitch at a Cubs Triple‑A Iowa Cubs game.
On Tuesday, the Cubs announced a promotional contest tied to the team’s 150th anniversary:
“Batter up, Bakers! We’re looking for a winning recipe. Enter now for a chance to have your cookie served at Wrigley Field this season,” referring to the official Cubs 150th Cookie Challenge.
Clark responded on X with a playful request to be involved in the fun: “Would love to be the taste tester.”
While Clark enjoys celebrating other sports, her eyes will remain firmly fixed on the upcoming WNBA campaign. The Fever are scheduled to open their 2026 season at home against Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings on May 9, a highly anticipated matchup as Clark looks to return fully healthy and elevate Indiana’s title hopes.
