Caitlin Clark had another incredible game for the Indiana Fever as they defeated the Dallas Wings at home on Friday. The Fever came out with an 11-point win in their first meeting with the Wings this season.
Clark had another double-double, scoring 29 points and dishing out 10 assists in 34 minutes. She also had an efficient night, shooting 11-of-18 from the field. The three-time WNBA All-Star also had three rebounds and one steal.
For Dallas, they were led by their star guard Paige Bueckers. She finished with 29 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals. However, it was not enough for the visitors, as they were also missing three players due to injury.
Bueckers also had two turnovers this game, one coming at the hands of the Fever star.
Indiana doubled the Wings guard at the top of the key with Clark standing by at the left wing. Bueckers made the pass, and Clark tipped the ball and finished with an easy off-foot fastbreak layup.
Clark talked about the play during the postgame conference.
“I think I was kind of reading her eyes a little bit and I almost kinda baited her into it,” the Fever star said.
The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year also admitted that she did a bit of an acting job to trick Bueckers.
“(I) kind of acted like I was behind the play, which maybe I was,” Clark said. “... but kind of got my hand on it.”
“(I) was able to jump-start our defense a little bit,” Clark added. “I think we only held Paige to two field goal attempts (in the second half).”
The Fever are on a three-game winning streak, and they’re currently fourth in the WNBA standings with a 22-12 record.
With only 10 games remaining in the regular season, Indiana is looking to finish the year strong.
