Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are both putting together the best seasons of their respective WNBA careers in Year 3. Clark is averaging a career-high 22.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and a league-leading 8.3 assists per game for the Indiana Fever, while Reese is posting a career-best 15.7 points and league-best 12.0 rebounds to go with 2.6 assists for the Atlanta Dream.
Their teams are also separated by 1.5 games in the standings. The Fever are 24-12 and third in the WNBA, while the Dream sit at 22-13 in fifth.
Clark and Reese have already shared the court four times this season, with the teams splitting those meetings 2-2.

The Fever won the first matchup 83-71 on June 4 before the Dream responded with victories of 108-101 on June 18 and 113-96 on June 20. Indiana evened the season series in the most recent meeting, beating Atlanta 95-91 in overtime on Aug. 16 behind Clark’s 26 points and nine assists. Reese finished with 15 points, 14 rebounds and six assists.
With the regular season gradually drawing to a close, ESPN released its latest WNBA Power Rankings, which placed Indiana at No. 3 and Atlanta at No. 6. The Minnesota Lynx (30-7), Golden State Valkyries (25-10), Las Vegas Aces (24-13) and New York Liberty (22-15) round out the top five, respectively.
Both are on pace to advance to the playoffs, setting up the possibility of a Clark-Reese postseason series later this season. The potential playoff matchup would also be a rematch of last year’s first-round series, when the Fever stunned the third-seeded Dream in a best-of-three series.
Indiana dropped Game 1 before winning the next two, including an 87-85 thriller in Game 3 to advance. Clark did not play in the series after suffering a season-ending injury, while Reese was still with the Chicago Sky at the time.
Now, with both stars healthy and playing the best basketball of their careers, another playoff meeting would look very different.
