UPDATE: The WNBA has rescinded the technical foul on Caitlin Clark, reverting her count to seven.
Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is set to be suspended for Tuesday's game against the New York Liberty as a result of her latest technical foul.
Late in the third quarter of Saturday's game against the Chicago Sky, Clark received her eighth technical foul of the season after accidentally hitting a referee while stumbling to the sideline.
The WNBA's rules state that a player receives a $1,500 fine and gets suspended for one game when they reach eight techs. Every other even-numbered technical foul after that — meaning the 10th, 12th, 14th techs and so on — also carries a one-game suspension.
However, the WNBA has the option to review the call and rescind it if they deem it doesn't warrant a technical foul. Sure enough, there's a case to be made that what Clark did was not intentional since she was clearly off balance and couldn't control her movement when she made contact with the referee.

Clark, for her part, certainly hopes that the league sees it that way.
"She said I ran into her," Clark told ESPN's Holly Rowe when asked about the technical foul. "I've already watched it on the tape, so we'll let the league decide. But it wasn't intentional and everything, so I'm hoping it's getting rescinded."
Clark proceeded to tell Rowe that she'll see her on Tuesday, further highlighting her optimism that the call will be rescinded.
For what it's worth, it was not only Clark who received a tech in the game. Head coach Stephanie White was also assessed one after she came to the Fever guard's defense after the controversial call.
It remains to be seen what the WNBA will do, but fans can expect the Fever to appeal the call.
