Kelsey Mitchell has been a driving force behind the Indiana Fever’s remarkable run this season. Among those taking notice is Caitlin Clark, who made sure her veteran teammate is getting the flowers she deserves.
Mitchell has given the Fever plenty of reasons to celebrate this season, and her latest accomplishment has put her among the league’s most productive scorers. The veteran guard recently exploded for 33 points against the Toronto Tempo, setting the single-season scoring record with 1,034 points after the game.
Right before Indiana’s showdown with the Washington Mystics, Clark faced the media and explained how she feels about Mitchell, both as a teammate and as a friend.

“It’s been fun to get a lot of these wins for her,” Clark said. “Like, she really does deserve it. I think, this is what, her ninth year? So, it’s pretty incredible that she’s playing her best basketball right now. It seems like every game, she just continues to get better.”
Clark added, “We’ve always had a tremendous relationship. And like I said, she’s a better human than she is a basketball player, which is hard to believe because she’s a pretty good basketball player. But it makes you just even happier when you see somebody that you care about and love off the court have so much success on the court as well.”
In 42 games this season, the 30-year-old guard has averaged 25.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.1 steals. She’s also hitting 51.5% of her field goals, including a league-best 45.6% from downtown.
While Mitchell continues to dominate on the court, she has clearly earned the respect of her peers.
