Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White is facing backlash for appearing to defend DiJonai Carrington's intense style of play in the wake of her Flagrant 2 foul against Sophie Cunningham.
While White was OK with Carrington getting ejected from Saturday's game - which the Fever won - she kind of went out of her way to make sure that she praised the Chicago Sky guard for her intensity.
"Look, it was a hard foul," White said. "It did happen, and I thought it was the right call. One of the things about [Carrington] is that she's going to play her butt off, man. She's going to compete. Nobody's going to go walking in for a layup. I don't oppose the hard foul, but I also don't think that she intentionally went for the neck."
Clark fans were not happy.
"Even the ABC commentators said it was clearly an intentional Flagrant 2. But Steph is defending the DiJonai because she taught her and AT to do this," one fan remarked.

"I’ve seen saying Steph needs to be fired for over a year. The reason she never defends Caitlin is because she agrees with the rough play. In fact, she taught DiJonai and AT how to play this way. She was there when AT clotheslined Angel. She backed it," one fan added.
"We need to hold Steph responsible for these comments. Imagine how Sophie feels. Everyone knows DiJonai was trying to get revenge for the Jacy Sheldon foul from 2025. It was intentional," one fan added.
"Coaching malpractice," one fan added.
"They all look down because they know its all a clown show," one fan added.
"That is one ignorant female coach. That foul was one of the hardest fouls I’ve ever seen in the WNBA," one fan added.
"Should be ashamed….disgusting and she should be fired. A coach that doesn’t back her players who have done nothing wrong is a coward," one fan added.
