A clip of Caitlin Clark’s teammates reacting to her 3-pointer late in Team USA’s win over Czechia sparked a lot of reaction online.
As Clark drilled a 3-pointer to put her team up by more than 40 points in their third game of the tournament, TNT’s cameras went to Team USA’s bench. Veteran guard Jackie Young was seen telling her teammate: “You better clap.”
The clip went viral, as some of Caitlin Clark’s fans suggested that the clip was proof that they have it out for her.
“Unbelievable……. Watch what she says here, then peep the body language. Everyone with a set of eyes can see the rampant jealousy for Caitlin Clark permeating women’s basketball. Enough is enough! Why won’t someone tell them the insecure & childish behavior must stop?” one fan wrote.
But we’ve probably lost the plot, here.
WNBA fan and analyst Jay Caspian Kang believes that 75 percent of the discourse surrounding Clark these days has become engagement bait.
“The CC derangement is 75% engagement bait at this point (congrats herooftheday enjoy your 0.2 cents). 15% are people who hate women and 10% are people who hate basketball. Meanwhile CC seems to be having a good time w her teammates. 🤷🏻♂️,” he wrote.

“How dare they have the audacity to not be completely locked in on the shot that put them up by 41,” one fan wrote.
Another shared sarcastically: “Has to be just seething disgusting racial hatred and no other explanation.”
“Look at the time and score, only thing teammates care about is no fouls come on let’s go home lol,” one fan added.
Team USA improved to 3-0 on the tournament with Monday night’s win, as the Americans will look to make a deep run toward a gold medal.
