Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark and head coach Stephanie White have a great relationship. Clark proved as much when she shared the story of an emotional moment she had with White last season.
Clark and White's relationship has been a hot topic lately following their heated exchange during the Fever's 100-84 loss to the Portland Fire on Saturday. False rumors even circulated claiming that White had been fired by Indiana as a result of their allegedly strained partnership.
Both Clark and White shut down the narrative surrounding them when talking to reporters on Monday.
To further highlight how much she loves and supports White, Clark went on to share how she cried in her coach's arms after suffering what turned out to be a season-ending injury last season.

"When I got hurt at the Connecticut game last year, I bawled in Steph's arms," Clark shared. "That is somebody I'll ride with for life. She had my back when really nobody else did."
To recall, Clark sustained a groin injury against the Connecticut Sun last July 15. That turned out to be her final game of the 2025 campaign, missing both the Fever's Commissioner's Cup championship run and their WNBA playoff appearance. She also suffered a bone bruise while recovering.
Clark noted that what happened between her and White stemmed from their competitiveness and desire to win. At the end of the day, they have mutual respect and admiration for each other.
Clark's story about White also serves to emphasize how much of an impact the veteran coach has had on the All-Star playmaker in the two seasons they have worked together.
