Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark and Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese have been considered rivals in the WNBA, but during their run with Team USA in the FIBA World Cup, they showed an incredible connection.
The two came off the bench and helped the United States go 6-0 to win its fifth consecutive gold medal. During that stretch, Clark averaged 7.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and a team-high 5.3 assists. Reese, on the other hand, recorded 7.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.2 steals.
What stood out from the FIBA World Cup, however, was how well Clark and Reese played alongside each other. Out of the tournament-best 32 assists that the Fever playmaker dished out, seven went to the Dream star.
In particular, Clark had four assists to Reese in the quarterfinals against Hungary. In that game, Reese scored six points in the first half, all of which came off assists from Clark. The Dream forward then returned the favor and dished out an assist to the Fever sharpshooter in the third quarter.

Now, in the latest episode of the “Post Moves” podcast, WNBA legend Candace Parker took note of the connection between the two stars and how it sparked a lot of interest online.
“But some things did go viral,” Parker said. “Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark connection during that game. We saw, like, just in terms of the cutting and Caitlin finding Angel, and learning how to play with one another. That caught a lot of people’s attention. … I think that’s the connections that you develop through USA.”
Parker went on to say that what Clark and Reese had is what makes playing for your country so “special.”
It will certainly be interesting to see how Clark and Reese’s chemistry will grow in the next few years, especially as they continue to play for Team USA.
Reese did say that she expects to be teammates with Clark “for a while,” adding that improving the connection between them will be crucial.
