Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud reminded everyone this week that he’ll always have Marvin Harrison Jr.’s back.
On Sunday, the Texans agreed to send a 2027 second-round pick and 2027 seventh-round pick to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for Harrison and a 2027 sixth-round selection. The hope is the disgruntled wideout will revitalize his career in Houston.
Harrison, the No. 4 overall pick from the 2024 NFL Draft, currently has 1,578 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns in 33 career games. Fans simply expected more out of him due to his success at Ohio State.
While some people are already writing off Harrison as a finished product, Stroud is confident there’s time for his former Ohio State teammate to turn things around.
“I don’t think anybody ever is a finished product. You’re always learning ways to get better. You’re always learning ways to get better at what you’re already good at. I think there are two different types of perspectives you can look from. You can look from the world’s perspective of who people think you are or yourself. I think that’s where I’ve learned that it doesn’t really matter what people say. They can’t really stop or start what you have going on. Then you have your perspective of who you think you are, who you believe you can be. I think that’s more important,” Stroud said, via Pro Football Talk.
“For Marvin, he knows that. He’s a heck of a player. I don’t agree with some of the things that are being said about him. At the end of the day, that’s what people who are on the outside are saying. I’m a firm believer of really focus on what you can control and then whatever other people say or have their opinions, kudos to them. They have platforms and things that they can say on, but that doesn’t really affect you unless you make it. I think he’ll be fine. I try to just be [a resource] to him if I need to. He’s a confident dude. He’ll be fine.”

Marvin Harrison Jr. has a chance to shine this weekend.
The Texans have already announced that Harrison will suit up this Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
As you’d imagine, Harrison is thrilled about his new opportunity in Houston.
“I think the team as a whole it’s a great situation for me,” Harrison said. “Being with a quarterback that you have rapport with and had success with in the past is always great too.”
If the Texans want to have a puncher’s chance at winning the AFC South, they need to defeat the Jaguars this Sunday and cut into their division lead.
