C.J. Gardner-Johnson’s truly “embarrassing” 2026 NFL season continued with an ejection on Sunday afternoon.
The Buffalo Bills cornerback, who is playing on his sixth different team since entering the league in 2019, was ejected from Sunday afternoon’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders. He appeared to get tossed for spitting in an opponent’s face.
Gardner-Johnson was tossed from the game for spitting at the Raiders offensive line.
“This is about as disrespectful as it gets,” CBS announcer Jim Nantz shared.
The NFL will be further looking into the incident, as Gardner-Johnson could be facing more punishment.
Earlier this season, Gardner-Johnson took a lot of heat for his comments on a loss to the Patriots.
The Bills fell to the Patriots in Week 4, when wide receiver Efton Chism caught a game-winning grab.
“An elevated guy made a helluva catch. Probably won’t happen to him again, respectfully. I say that with a lot of confidence because it’s like he didn’t put his confidence in his best player,” Gardner-Johnson said postgame.
“They ain’t do [expletive] better than us. We gotta play better. And they can mark that. We’ll be back, see them again at the end of the year. So, they better have that same energy.”
Patriots coach Mike Vrabel was quick to call out the veteran defensive back.
“For a guy that’s been on eight teams in four years? I guess he knows the drill,” Vrabel said earlier this season of Gardner-Johnson on WEEI.
Gardner-Johnson, 28, is certainly a good and talented player. However, his postgame comments against the Patriots and his ejection against the Raiders are bad signs for his emotional maturity. The Bills cannot afford to be losing key players on defense in a big game against the Raiders.
The contest will continue on CBS.
