The BYU Cougars finished the 2025-26 college basketball season going 23-12 overall and 9-9 in Big 12 matchups. Under second-year head coach Kevin Young, BYU entered the NCAA Tournament as the No. 6 seed in the West Region. However, their run at a national championship was quickly ended after a first-round loss to the No. 11 Texas Longhorns.
Since wrapping up the season, the Cougars have suffered a handful of transfer portal losses. The total number of departures has risen to seven since the portal officially opened up on April 7. It's tied for the second-most among Big 12 teams.

However, Young and his staff have continued to work on replenishing those losses. On Wednesday, BYU received a commitment from former Clemson Tigers forward Jake Wahlin, according to On3's Joe Tipton.
Wahlin, originally a member of the Utah Utes' 2023 recruiting class, transferred to Clemson after two seasons in Salt Lake City. In his first season with the Tigers, he appeared in 35 games and made 29 starts.
The junior averaged 5.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game while shooting 40.3% from the field and 34% from the three-point line. While his production doesn't jump off the page, On3 Industry Rankings lists him as the No. 63 power forward in the portal.
With one more year of eligibility, Wahlin becomes the third transfer commitment BYU has landed this offseason. He joins forward Tyler Betsey (Syracuse Orange) and guard Collin Chandler (Kentucky Wildcats).
With Wahlin on board, the Cougars' transfer portal class now ranks fifth in the Big 12 and 10th in the nation.
