The Buffalo Bills announced Wednesday that two national anthems will be played before every home game this season.
Just like all other 31 NFL teams, the Bills will have someone perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” before their home games at Highmark Stadium. They’ll also celebrate the Canadian national anthem during their pregame festivities.
The Bills announced that Auliʻi Cravalho will perform the American national anthem for their home opener on Thursday, Sept. 17. The Barenaked Ladies, meanwhile, have the privilege of performing the Canadian national anthem.
While some people are questioning this decision, the majority of the NFL community supports the Bills playing two national anthems. After all, they play right near the shores of Lake Ontario.

“Why? The reason they do the Canadian in hockey is half the league is Canadian. I understand Buffalo is close to Canada has Canadian fans but I don’t think it’s necessary,” one person argued.
“The Canadians are literally our neighbors and show up to Bills games by the thousands. Any normal person is completely fine with this,” another person replied.
“Bills adding Canadian anthem before home games,” ESPN reporter Alaina Getzenberg said. “Feels long overdue, great addition.”
“I honestly see zero issue with this,” another Buffalo fan said. “If you are actually FROM Buffalo or lived there you know how close in proximity is. Most WNYers spend time in Canada every summer at the beach. Most Canadians in Southern Ontario are Bills fans.”
Super Bowl aspirations in Buffalo.
Bills fans seem more than OK with the team celebrating the Canadian national anthem this fall. Besides, their main goal is that Josh Allen and the 2026 squad find a way to snap their Super Bowl drought.
Unsurprisingly, the majority of the Bills’ locker room is feeling confident about their chances this season.
“Everyone on our team plays for one reason and one reason only, and that’s to bring a Super Bowl back to Buffalo,” Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid told Bleacher Report. “When we are able to do that, it’s going to be awesome to celebrate with each other and our families, but also with the city of Buffalo because they’ve been through so much.”
