It's been an eventful week for LIV Golf to say the least. But while rumors of their imminent demise have largely been debunked, the golf league still has an event they're putting on. Though judging by some recent comments from Bryson DeChambeau, it could be going better.
The LIV Golf Mexico City event is ongoing at the historic Playa del Carmen resort city. But while the weather might be delightful, the course conditions just don't seem to be cutting it for the two-time U.S. Open champion.
During one hole, DeChambeau's ball landed on a stretch of the course with destroyed grass and rough. A minute-long clip shows him absolutely laying into the golf course over how bad it was, and even brought a league official out to talk about it.
Complaining Too Much?
As bad as those conditions may have looked, golf fans mostly dismissed DeChambeau for complaining. Some pointed out that those are the normal conditions for golf courses in areas that are well outside of the playing area.
"Is this the fairway or green? Oh, you hit it 25 yards left, suck it up," one user on X demanded.
"What happend to Brysons bunker play? 😂🤣 dude hit one of the most clutch bunker shots of all time to win the U.S. Open. Now he looks like a 20 handicap in the sand," another mocked.
"1) don't skull a bunker shot over the green 2) this is what $500mil gets you 3) your lie is perfect 4) if only there was a TOUR you had access to that played on perfectly manicured grass 5) see #2," a third remarked.

There were, of course, plenty of people who called out LIV Golf for the poor course conditions and called it a sign that the golf league is on unsteady ground.
Could DeChambeau's comments be a sign of things to come?
